NOTE: There are marriage bonds for men named William Pitman in this time frame. All three are signed by William Pitman, and none of the three signatures match. Some have argued that William Pitman married, second, Polly Dodson per bond dated 14 JAN 1809, and this couple were the parents of a William Pitman, Jr. The division of his land among only his two children by Elizabeth Hill prove that this assertion is false.
