Family tree▼ (edit)
m. 1754
Facts and Events
He settled in the far West part of Henrico Co, near Skinquarteron land adjacent to his father. He and his wife moved about 1761 to Amelia Co. He and a group of other families including Belchers, Clays, and Baileys migrated through Wood Gap into Floyd Co and on down the Little and New Rivers, settling on Wolf Creekabout 1750. He owned the mill on Mill Creek in what is now the Narrows about 1755-1760. During the Indian uprising of 1774, many settlers went to the Black River settlement in what is now Franklin Co. But William stayed and served in the Montgomery Co Militia during the Revolutionary War, under the command of Cpt John Taylor. Evidence exists that after 1785, William left Wolf Creek after a run-in with George Pearis and built a mill on the Mill Branch of Bluestone. Note: His son, Meshack, also served with him in the Montgomery Co Militia |
