    ... Col. Philip Johnson married Elizabeth Bray, daughter of Col. Thomas Bray of James City County. Their daughter, Rebecca married William Norvell and another daughter, Elizabeth married a Hill.

    William Norvell was very prominent in James City County and was a member of the first Constitutional Convention in 1776. He died after his wife, aged 77 years; and in his will probated in 1802, he frees his slaves, and leaves the bulk of his property to the children of his nephew. Major William Lightfoot, whose mother was a sister of William Norvell. He left the largest share of his property to Catherine Norvell Lightfoot. ...
