Moved to Burgoon, OH with his parents as a young child. Lived in Burgoon after marriage for five years and then moved to a farm two miles south of Flatrock. After death of his wife, he moved to Bellevue, OH. Obit states that he leaves two grandchildren. One would be my grandfather, Cuyler Hayes. Had been a member of the U.B. church at Flatrock, but in Bellevue was a member of Congregational church. Obit from the Fremont Daily News Feb 5, 1908 states: " Mr. William A. Mowery, well known and highly respected citizen of Bellevue, passed away at his home at l o'clock Tuesday afternoon, aged 75 years, l month and 6 days. The deceased was born in Wayne CO OH, and was a son of John and Eliza Mowery. When but a child he removed with his parents to Burgoon, O., where he grew to manhood. On December 28, 1854, he was married to Miss Marie Korner, of Flatrock. after their marriage they lived at Burgoon for five years. and from that place they moved to a farm two miles south of Flatrock, where they lived until the death of Mrs. Mowery, which occurred twelve years ago. Shortly after the death of his wife, Mr. Mowery moved to Bellevue, which city has since been his home. Four children were born to this union, Arthur, died in infancy and Richard E. died three years ago. The surviving children are Mrs. Emma McCauley of Highland, Kansas and Miss Mary E. Mowery, who lived at home and kept house for her father. The deceased also leaves two grandchildren, two brothers, Absolom Mowery, of Bettsville, and Amos Mowery, of Fremont and one sister Mrs. Ellen Stamm of Gibsonburg. In early life Mr. Mowery united with the U.B. church at Flatrock, but since residing in Bellevue he has been a faithful member and regular attendant of the Congregational church. Three weeks ago Mr. Mowery was first taken ill with heart trouble. Last Thursday he suffered a stroke of paralysis and failed rapidly until the end which came peacefully. The funeral will take place from the house Thursday afternoon at 2 0'clock, services being conducted by Rev. G. L. Smith, with interment in Bellevue cemetery."
