I also have a James Montague, who married Elizabeth Chinn on 20 Jun 1760 in Lancaster Co., VA. Elizabeth Chinn is the daughter of Joseph Chinn and Unknown. Joseph Chinn is the son of Rawleigh Chinn and Esther Ball, the half-sister of Mary Ball, mother of Gen. George Washington. William Montague and James Montague are no doubt related, and are probably descendants of Peter Montague, who married Cecily Reynolds. Any information to prove these connections would be greatly appreciated. The Montague, Ball and Chinn families are, based on current information, strickly collateral to mine. The closest connection, to date, is that of Esther Ball's sister, Frances Ball, who married John Carter, the son of Capt. Thomas Carter and Katherine Dale -- my 8th great grandparents. Thanks, and happy holidays! |
