Facts and Events
THE LATE MR WILLIAM MILROY, CARRICK News was received with much regret at Gatehouse and Borgue last week of the death of Mr William Milroy, a well known and much esteemed native of Galloway, who for many years was tenant of Carrick in the parish of Borgue. The death of his wife in the spring of 1908 was the occasion of breaking up his home and only last October Mr Milroy left this country, apparently in good health accompanied by his daughter, having decided to reside with two of his sons and a daughter who had emigrated some years ago and to make his home in Myncaster, BC., their residence. After an illness of about 3 weeks Mr Milroy was moved to a hospital to undergo an operation which was not carried out. After much suffering, accelerated by the cold climate, Mr Milroy passed peacefully away on 14 May aged 73 years. Mr Milroy was a most intellectual man, genuine in all his transactions, and upheld an independent spirit. For years he was a leading member of the Liberals in the parish and at election times he was often elected chairman, while at Conservative meetings he was an untiring and dangerous heckler. Mr Milroy leaves large family, many of whom occupy positions of trust and importance, and to them much sympathy is extended in their sudden bereavement. 16 June 1909 NOTE: NAME William Milroy Event Date: 1909 5 14 (Yr/Mo/Day) NOTE: CONT Gender: male NOTE: CONT Event Place: Grand Forks NOTE: CONT Reg.
