Dear Bill,

Thomas Spencer Melton was the son of William A. Melton from Edgefield District, SC. I am descended from Naomi Melton, William A. Melton's sister. William and Naomi are the children of Nathan Melton and Nancy Allen of Edgefield District, SC. In case you don't know, William A. Melton was a Revolutionary War Veteran, and he applied for an received a pension. His application is on file. You have a very interesting ancestor in William A. Melton!

Naomi Melton married Thomas Smedley. They lived in Greene County, GA, along with William A. Melton for a while. Then they moved to Putnam County, GA, and finally to Troup County, GA. I am very interested in the first wife of Thomas Spencer Melton, Elizabeth Thrash.

Nancy Smedley, the daughter of Thomas and Naomi married Nathan Thrash in 1826 in Putnam County, GA. I was wondering if you know anything about the family of Elizabeth Thrash, and if there is a possibility that Nathan and Elizabeth are brother and sister.

The children of Thomas Melton and Elizabeth Thrash are:

Robert Melton David Melton William T. Melton Benjamin F.K. Melton- a Captain in the Confederate Army

The children of Thomas Melton and Mary Zackry are:

Texas Melton Polk Melton Ella Melton Laura Melton Henry Dallas Melton Sophia Melton Spencer Melton Ephraim Melton Lela Melton Missy Melton Alice Ann Melton

I don't know the children of Thomas Melton and Susan Lovejoy.

Do you know where Thomas S. Melton is buried in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. I live in Sylacauga, AL, and I grew up in Coosa County where Equality is located. Which one of Thomas Melton's children are you descended from? Please let me know if you know anything about Nathan Thrash and Elizabeth Thrash. Thanks.
