William Loxley's origins have yet to be established. His first confirmed sighting is on 27th December 1769, when he married Mary Dingley at Cropthorne in Worcestershire. They went on to have ten children baptised at Cropthorne between 1770 and 1788, although at least two of them died young. In 1793 William's eldest son, William, was articled to a Joseph Lavender of Evesham as an attorney and solicitor. The articles refer to William senior as being a farmer of Cropthorne at that time. In 1816 William was mentioned in his brother-in-law William Dingley's will, with Mary being described as "the wife of William Loxley", suggesting that William was then still alive. William has yet to be traced after 1816, with no burial record having yet been found. There were two sets of administration records for people called William Loxley of Cropthorne during 1821, either of which may have been him. Mary died in 1825. References
