Information on William Leach

"A History of Monroe County, West Virginia," pg. 368:
William (Leach), a stonemason, came from Prince Edward (County) at the close of the Revolution with his wife, Susanna Hughes. He was accompanied by Leach Mann, a relative, and by the Gullett, Egner, and Fuller families. His settlement was on the Washington Nickell place in the Sinks, some of his close neighbors being James Gregory and John and William Brown. He owned slaves and left personal property valued at $274.67. After his death in 1805 the widow and most of her children went to Kentucky, Joshua, Mary, and Elizabeth remaining in the Sinks...About 1815 some of the family came back as far as Charleston with a stone to mark their father's grave, but learning that the spot could not be identified they returned to Kentucky and have been lost sight of...Two sisters came with William Sr. to Monroe. SUSAN married ISAAC FOSTER and Nancy married Alexander Clark.

LEACH FAMILY Bethras (View posts) Posted: 4 Jul 2000 12:00PM GMT Classification: Query Edited: 30 Jun 2001 7:42PM GMT Surnames: LEACH, FOSTER, CLARK

In the mid 1700's a JOHN LEACH resided in Pr. William Co. He had two daughters SUSAN LEACH who married ISAAC FOSTER and NANCY LEACH who married ALEXANDER CLARK. They had a brother WILLIAM married to SUSANNAH HUGHES. I believe some or all of them married in Pr. William Co before the family moved to Monroe Co, WV. If anyone has any information on this family, I would sure appreciate it. I am particularly looking for info on JOHN LEACH and his wife JOANNA. TIA
