Registered March 20th 1823: This indenture made this the third day of June in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and twenty two between David Russell of the county of Hickman and the State of TN of the one part and William Lancaster of the county and state aforesaid of the other part, Witnessed: That the said David Russell for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred and ninety dollars to him in had paid by the said William Lancaster the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given, granted bargained, aligned, conveyed and confirmed unto the said William Lancaster his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the county of Hickman and State of Tennessee on the south side of Duck River and on the east side of Beaverdam Creek bounded as follows, to wit: Beginning on a box elder and sycamore on the bank of the creek, running east seventy six poles to a forked beech it being the northeast corner of John C. McLemore and John Davis 383 acres entry, thence south with their line 60 poles to a small poplar and hornbeam, thence east 50 poles to a hickory near the top of a high ridge, thence north 66 and 6/10 of a pole to an ellum and white oak, thence east 5 poles to two dogwoods, thence north 137 poles to a small ash and hornbeam, thence west 35 poles to a small ash and white oak on Levi Lancaster's line, thence south 9 poles to a white oak it being the south east corner of said Lancaster's one hundred acres tract, thence west 108 poles to a forked white oak crossing the creek, thence up said creek with its various meanders to the beginning 160 poles containing by estimation one hundred and eighteen acres be it the same more or less.

    To have and to hold the aforesaid lands with all the singular the rights, profits, emoluments, heredataments, and appurtenances of in, and to the same belonging in or in anywise appertaining to the only proper use and behalf of him and said William Lancaster his heirs forever and the said David Russell for his self his heirs, executors and administrators doth covenant and agree with the said William Lancaster his heirs and assigns that the aforesaid recited land and bargained premises he will warrant and defend against the right, title, claim or interest, of all and every person whatsoever. In witness whereof the said David Russell hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written, signed, sealed and delivered in presents of Levi McCollum, Dixon Walker. Daniel, aged about fifty yrs., Hanna, about forty two yrs., Carolina, six yrs., Mina four yrs. and Eliza one year old.
