Wm. Jones's Will
In the Name of God Amen I William Jones of Bedford County being sick and weak in body, but of perfect mind and memory, thanks be given unto God calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that is apointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body to the Earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executors not doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life.
I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form
First I give and bequeath to my sons John and William Jones Junr. one Tract of Land bought of Thomas Kirsey lying and being in Halifax County to be equally divided between them at the age of twenty one years.
Secondly I give and bequeath to my sons James and Richard Jones another Tract of Land bought of William East being and lying in the said County adjoining the aforesaid Tract of [land] bought of Kursey to be equally divided between at the age of Twenty one years.
Thirdly I leave a Tract of Land lying and being in Essen [Essex?] County to be sold to discharge such Debts as I owe.
Fourthly I leave and bequeath to each and every of my Children, namely, Elizabeth, Lavinia, Nancy, Jackey, Billy, Susanna, Margaret, Jemmy and Richard Jones at the departing from their Mother to be entitled to a Cow and Calf Sow and pigs, Ewe and Lamb.
Fifthly, I leave and bequeath unto my well beloved wife Nancy Jones my two Negroes Tom and Peter together with all my moveable Estate to be possessed and enjoyed by her for the support of herself and Children during her widowhood, and, after ____, ____ __ her Marriage (if so) all and every bequeathed in her hands to be soley and equally divided between her and all her Children. ~
Sixthly and lastly I do make constitute and ordain John Tankersly of Charlotte County, Moses Fuqua of Bedford County and Samuel Cobbs of Halifax County my beloved friends to be Sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament all and singular my Lands Messuages and Tenements by them in and after the same manner before mentioned to be diposed of.
And I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disammul all ___ every other former Testaments Will Legacies and bequests and Executors by me in anywise before named Wills and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.
In Witness, whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of December An. Dom. One thousand seven hundred and seventy five.

Signed sealed published pronounced and declared by the said Willm. Jones as his last Will and Testament in the presence of Corn's Martin, Moses Fuqua, Joseph [his mark] Pemberton, Chas. Talbot
At a Court held for Halifax County the 15th day of January 1778.
This last Will and Testament of William Jones deceased was exhibited in Court by John Tankersly one of the Executors herein named and the same was proved by the oaths of two of the subscribing witnesses hereto, and ordered to be Recorded. And on the motion of the said Executor (who made oath hereto and according to Law) Certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate hereof in due form, he giving security whereupon he together with Charles Talbot his security entered into and acknowledged Bond for the same according to Law.
