William Jeeves' origins have yet to be established. His first confirmed sighting is on 16th February 1682 when he was married at Hitchin in Hertfordshire to a Mary Law. Between 1682 and 1703 William and Mary had ten children together, all baptised at Hitchin. The eldest and youngest children both died as infants, but the other eight all lived to adulthood. William worked as a baker, and at least one of his sons (Michael) followed him to be a baker too.

Mary died in 1715. They had been married for over 33 years. William outlived her by nearly five years and was buried at Hitchin on 19th August 1720. He left a will, although this has yet to be researched.
