Mary Law's origins have yet to be established. Her first confirmed sighting is on 16th February 1682 when she married a baker named William Jeeves at Hitchin in Hertfordshire. Between 1682 and 1703 Mary and William had ten children together, all baptised at Hitchin. The eldest and youngest children both died as infants, but the other eight all lived to adulthood.

Mary died in 1715, having been married for over 33 years. Her youngest child was still only 14 when she died. William outlived her by nearly five years.
