William Hostler or Ostler's origins have yet to be established. His first confirmed sighting is on 11th October 1791 when he married Sarah Perry at Eversholt in Bedfordshire. They went on to have seven children baptised there between 1792 and 1815.

William died aged 47, being buried at Eversholt on 28th October 1816. Sarah outlived him by thirty years.
