He went to Canada in 1910, per Dewey and the 1916 Canadian census. In 1910 Michigan census he was a laborer in a lumber camp. In 1916 the family was living in Alberta, Canada, and in 1934 he was living in Duchess, Alberta, Canada when his mother. Obituary HOSLER--A pioneer of Alberta, William Robert Hosler died February 26, 1977 in Newell Nursing Home, Brooks at the age of 88. Born in the State of Michigan, he attended school there. On May 12th 1909 he married Margaret Ellen Pierson of East Jordan, Michigan. Mrs. Hosler's parents, the W.T. Piersons, came to the prairies in the sping of 1910 and took up a homestead near Cessford, north of the Red Deer River. The Hoslers, together with Mrs. Hosler's brother, Jack Del and Grover Pierson, came to Western Canada in 1910 and went to work on the Bassano Dam, construction on which had started that fall. Following a period of construction work at the dam, the Hoslers took up a homestead in 1912 south and west of Cessford. In 1919 they moved to Patricia and in 1924 in Duchess were he worked for the Canadian Pacific Irrigation Department and later the Eastern Irrigation Distrct. In 1943 he went on his own as a carpenter for 10 years during which time he worked a lot on the V Bar V Ranch when Credit Foncier owned the big spread. Back with the EID, Mr. Hosler ran the Duchess camp, later moving to Brooks in 1947 where he has resided since. Mr. Hosler was predeceased by his wife Maggie on Sept. 26, 1967. Surviving are two sons, Roy of High River and Leo of Findlay Ohio, one daughter, Mrs. Alex (Genevie) MacKenzie of East Jordan, Michigan.
