In May of 1856, William and Martha wrote a letter to their children. They were living in Overton Co., TN. at Mill Creek. The letter states the following: Dear Children, we have a good deal of fatal cases. Hudspeth Webb is dead and gon. Old Turner Johnson is dead and gon. Robert Goodpasture lost his wife lately. I am not in good health. Mother has better health than i have. She is stumping right peart. My blacks areall well--likely that the hole of them could be sold for six thousand.Signed--William Holman and Martha. Another letter was received about Feb. 17, 1857 State of Tennessee, Overton Co., TN. This letter states: I will say to you with a sorrafel hart that your father departed this life on Saturday the 14th of this instant which you know left me in sorrefel condition. He was taken sick Christmas eve night and was confined to his bed the principle rest of the time. Died without leaving a will. Signed--Marty Holman.
William and Martha are listed on the 1850 Overton Co., TN. Census, he is age 73, she is age 70. The Value of Real Estate Owned was 1500.00.
