HOEKSTRA, WILLIAM "BILL" William "Bill" Hoekstra, age 92, of Grand Rapids, was called to his heavenly home on Monday, February 13, 2012. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was a cook for Rehoboth Christian School in New Mexico for 38 years. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Bertha; children, Evonne Steenwyk, Willa (Paul) Hekman, Julia Hoekstra; grandchildren, Cheryl (John) Vlietstra, Keith (Jamie) Steenwyk; great-grandchildren, Levi, Jessie, Adam, Andy, Nella, Jake, Luke, and Caitlyn Vlietstra; Gracie and Gerrit Steenwyk; a sister-in-law, Jennie Hoekstra; many nieces and nephews. A private committal service will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The Memorial Service will be held 1 PM Friday, February 17, at Cutlerville East Christian Reformed Church, 501 68th St. SE, with Rev. Bill Renkema officiating.
