Facts and Events
William Hodges was born on 18th May 1825 and baptised ten days later at Winsham in Somerset, son of Sarah Hodges, formerly Forsey, and her husband William Hodges, a shepherd. William was the second of the couple's six children. In the late 1820s the family left Winsham and moved fourteen miles north to Burton Pynsent, a hamlet which then straddled the parishes of Curry Rivel and Drayton. William's father died in 1834, when William was nine years old.
William appears in both the 1841 and 1851 censuses living with his mother and siblings at Burton Pynsent. He was working as an agricultural labourer. He has yet to be researched after 1851.
