[Two court documents show that William Hilton the immigrant had two sons named William (see GMB, p. 953-4, one by each wife):]
Petition dated 31 May 1660 by William Hilton of Charlestown in Boston Court:Where as your petitioners father William Hilton came ouer into New England about the yeare Ano: Dom: 1621: & yo'r petitioner came about one Year & an halfe after, and In a little tyme following settled our selues vpon the River of Pischataq, with Mr Edw: Hilton, who were the first Inglish planerts there: ... abovesaid William Hilton Senjor & William Hilton Junio'r ..."
Deposition of "Majo'r John Davess" and "Cap't: Charles F[rost]" 30 May 1683 [York Deeds, 3:125] that "Willia[m] Hilton now rescident in yorke, in the Province of Mayne, was Comonly known, & [repu]ted to bee ye sonn of William Hilton Senior deceased, & formerly lived in Yorke..."
