Hon. William A. Henderson
Although a citizen of Knoxville for thirty-nine years, the Hon. William A. Henderson is a native of Grainger County, Tennessee, having been born in that county July 11, 1836. He is descended from and old and highly respectible North Carolina family, who were among the pioneer settlers of East Tennessee, and of English Ancestry. That the family is English, is sufficiently evident from the patronymic Henderson, which was changed by aspiring the first letter of the original name, Andrewson, and making the orthography conform to the common pronounciation of it. Thus "Andrew-son" became Henderson.
