Facts and Events
(unmarried) He served as a private in Co. H, 31st Indiana Vol Infantry (with his brother & a cousin, both named Jeremiah). The very scant military record says he died in bivouac at Mustang Island, Texas, of disease. No details are recorded, but Mustang Island was noted for its malarial fever and a large number of Union troops occupying the island at the end of the War contracted it. |
