Dear Mother I wish to inform you that I am in good health and in great spirits and now in the sitty of Newport on the banks of the Ohio expecting to march in a few days, to march and storm the walls of Fort Malden. And if I should never return I wish you all well and wish to you is to take care of what small property I leave with you and if I never should return it is my wish that Pamelia should get a bond that is in the hands of a Andrew Right on the Lexington Road two miles from Paris [KY] in Burbon County and you need not apply for it in the course of nine months. I expect to be back in that time if ever. I have told Mr. Right not to let any person have the bond except my mother applies for it, or an order from her, and if I should not return in nine months you are at liberty to receive the bond and draw the money and that Pamelia shall have it - and what clothes I have left behind I wish that Lance to have them and my saddle. And I want him to pay Land Collins nine dollars and four and ax to old Mr. Werer and my part of the estate Albert W. Hall shall get it. And I wish Bozzle to act as a friend to me so for as to sell my horse for cash and nine months credit and taking bond and good security and if I should never return I wish my mother to have it. I am your son and friend William Hall. Richard Spurgin my best compliments and to my friends and relatives, give my compliments to all my friends.
