GERHART Daily American, February 13, 2002 

 William E. Gerhart, 94, of Meyersdale died Feb. 10, 2002 at Patriot Manor, Somerset.  Born March 31, 1907 in Anthony, W. Va.  A son of the late John W. and Sadie A. (Younkin) Gerhart.  Also preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary E. Arnold in 1984, a son Ralph in June 2002; son-in-law William F. Nelson Sr., and two grandsons, William R. Nelson Jr. and Larry Gerhart.  Also brothers Clyde, Paul, Nelson, and Homer, and sisters, Sara Beal, Bertha Henry, Florence Shockey, and Mary Hook.  Survived by two daughters, Anna L. Nelson, Bunnell, Fla., and Ruth Walker, Friedens; son-in-law, Guy Walker, Friedens; daughter-in-law, Ruth (Pugh) Gerhart, Cleveland, Ohio; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.  Also a good friend, Verna L. Berg.  Bill worked in the mines for many years, and he  retired from Somerset Rural Electric.  He liked to fish and hunt.  A member of the First United Methodist Church, Meyersdale.
