- Bedford Co. Wills - pg. 590 - "Hugh C. Hurst, exec. of William Gabbert, dec., who made a will. Widow Mary (Ann) Gabbert. Children: Rebecca Ann Epperson, George G. Gabbert, Ruthy White, Nelson J. Gabbert, Wm. Gabbert, Jordan Gabbert, :Barton Gabbert, Martha Gabbert, Amanda Gabbert, and Lucinda Gabbert. To George W. Brown and wife - one share and James Carlisle and wife - one share.
- Note: This will was recorded several years ago by a former Clerk - recorded in will book, page 438 and 439 - destroyed by fire in 1863.

- From Ira Gabbert - Traditional information is that when he became of age in Lincoln Co., Kentucky, he accepted a horse, bridle, saddle and $300 cash as patrimony and migrated to Indiana. He owned property there certainly from 1820 through 1824 based on land records. Sometime around 1847 he moved to Bedford Co., TN and died there 26 Jan 1852.
- February Term 1852, Bedford Co., TN Court Records, pg. 417: This day a paper writing purported to be the last Will and Testament of William Gabbert dec.d was produced in Open Court for probate whereupon W.H. Dyer and Samuel Neely the subscribing witnesses to said paper writing appeared in Court ~ who being duly sworn, deposed and said that they became Witnesses to said Paper writing by request of the Testator and in his presence and the presence of each other and that they believed him to be of sound mind and disposing memory at the time they became witnesses to said paper writing. Whereupon the Court Ordered that the same be admitted to record as the last Will & Testament of the said Wm. Gabbert deceased ~ And George G. Gabbert, Nelson Gabbert & H.C. Hurst who was appointed Executors in said Will, appeared in Court, and George G. Gabbert & Nelson Gabbert ~ declined to Qualify as such. ~ Executors Whereupon Hugh C. Hurst the other Executor appointed in said will entered into Bond in the sum of fifty thousand dollars with Saml. Doak & Edmund Cooper his securities, which Bond being duly Acknowledged in open Court by the said Hugh C. Hurst and the said Securities, was by the Court approved ~ And thereupon the said Hugh G. Hurst was duly Qualified as Executor aforesaid.
- This day personally appeared in Open Court ~ Present Herod F. Holt Chairman, Price C. Steele & Joseph Hastings Esqr. presiding ~ Mary Ann Gabbert, Widow of William Gabbert and entered her solemn dissent to her husband William Gabbert's Will ~ This day presented for probate, And claims her Dower under existing laws.
- Ordered by the Court that Wm. H. Dyer, Randolph Newsom and Leroy W. Barrett be Appointed Commissioners, to lay off and set apart to Mary Ann Gabbert, Widow of Wm. Gabbert dec'd one years support for herself and family out of the effects of her dec'd Husbands Estate and make report to the next Term of the Court.
- Upon Application it was Ordered by the Court that James Carlisle be appointed Guardian of Jordan Gabbert a Minor heir of Wm. Gabbert dec'd Whereupon the said James Carlisle entered into Bond in the sum of four thousand dollars with Nelson Gabbert, George G. Gabbert & George W. Brown his securities which Bond was duly acknowledged in Open Court by the said James Carlisle and his said Securities and by the Court approved.
- Upon Application it was Ordered by the Court that George G. Gabbert be appointed Guardian of William Gabbert, Martha Gabbert & Amanda Gabbert Minor heirs of William Gabbert dec'd whereupon the said George G. Gabbert entered into Bond in the sum of twelve Thousand Dollars with James Carlisle, Nelson Gabbert, H.C. Hurst & Geo. W. Brown his securities ~ which Bond being duly acknowledged in Open Court by the said George G. Gabbert and his said Securities was by the Court approved.
- Upon application it was ordered by the Court Nelson Gabbert be appointed Guardian of Lucinda Gabbert and Benton Gabbert, minor heirs of Wm. Gabbert dec'd. Whereupon the said Nelson Gabbert entered into Bond in the sum of eight Thousand Dollars with George G. Gabbert, Geo. W. Brown, Hugh C. Hurst & James Carlisle his Securities, which Bond being duly acknowledged in Open Court by the said Nelson Gabbert & his said securities by the Court approved.
- March Term 1852, Bedford Co., TN Court Records, pg. 420: This day Hugh C. Hurst Executor of the Estate of William Gabbert dec'd Returned into Court an Inventory of said Estate, And having made Oath to the same it was Ordered to be Recorded.
- May Term 1852, Bedford Co., TN Court Records, pg. 467: This day Hugh C. Hurst, Executor of William Gabbart dec'd Returned into Court a List of Sales of the property of said Estate, And having made oath to the same it was Ordered to be Recorded.
