    Taken from the Lidderdale, Ia. Centennial book: William Fricke was the son of Detrick and Marie (Lessman) Fricke. Bertha Augusta Dora Wenck was born August 14, 1882 in Carroll Co. Ia. the daughter of John and Dora (Spieker) Wenck. William and Bertha were married Feb. 15, 1905, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheridan Twp. by Rev. A. Mueller. They farmed one and one/half miles northwest of Lidderdale and later moved to a farm three miles northwest of Lidderdale. They had six children: Hulda who married Herry Wenck and lived at Lidderdale, Otmar who married Ruth Berns and lived at Bemidji, Minn. Pauline who married Cecil Horne and lived at Cedar Rapids, Ia., and William Jr. who married Viola Berns and lived at O'Neil Nebraska. Herbert died as an infant and Josephine (twin to Pauline) died as an infant. William and Bertha moved to Lidderdale where he operated the Mobil gas station until his health failed in the early forties. He died in 1944. Bertha continued to live in town until she was over 100 years of age. She lived at the Carroll health Center three years and died on Aug. 27, 1986, at the age of 104.
