Page 52- William Alexander Fleet was born at Columbia, Mo., in 1883. He is a son of Col. A. F. Fleet, formerly Professor of Greek in the University of Missouri, now Superintendent of the Culver Military Academy, Culver, Ind. His mother was Miss Belle Seddon of Fredericksburg, Va. Besides the public schools and the Missouri Military Academy, Mexico. Mo., Mr. Fleet attended the Culver Military Academy four years, where he won a Scholarship Medal in 1900. A residence of four years at the University of Virginia enabled him to capture both the B.A. and M.A. degrees in 1904. He enjoys the distinction of having received the first appointment to a Rhodes Scholarship from Virginia. He is now at Magdalen College, Oxford, pursuing the study of the Latin and Greek languages. At Virginia he was President of the Academic Class of 1903-4. was a charter member of the Raven Society and its first Secretary.
