Dear Mike,

The family tree that you sent to us was the one we submitted to the WFT. Now that I am back to William in 1779 I am stuck. I know that he was born in Pennsylvania, but I don't know where in Pennsylvania. I have read all of the file, "Descendants of Daniel Ferree" and it is fascinating but I can't find where my William fits. He is an unconnected link at this time. I told my husband yesterday before I received your E-mail that this year I want to find this William Ferree and my John Engleman from Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. My husband sent the file in and some of the information has been updated a bit and there have been some tiny changes, but most of the changes would be considered private at this time.

I am lucky enough to be in possession of some old photos. I have a wedding photo of my great grandfather, Willard Ferree and Ila Winters in very good condition. I also have a family photo of Willard and his family taken later on. I also have a photo of Jacob Ferree and Calista E. (not Elizabeth C.) Glenn and their son Willard. I believe this photo may have been taken during her pregnancy. She died in childbirth or shortly thereafter.

I also have some older photographs who I believe to be William Ferree and Ann Haislett Ferree (also in very good condition). The Ferrees seem to be a family who took a lot of photographs. They have remained in very good shape. My grandmother (Estella Davis Ferree) rescued most of the photographs from being burned by Ila Winters Ferree in the yard after the death of her husband, Willard. I have no idea why she was going to burn the photographs, but I think the theory is that she was infuriated with the Ferrees. I understand that the older Ferrees didn't care much for Ila. She was quite a greedy person. That is all speculation since I have lived in California all of my life and only remember meeting my great grandmother once or twice while we were on vacation while I was still a small child. I do know, however, that my mother, Miriam Ferree Engleman, loved spending time with her grandparents on their farm. I also have a good picture of the farmhouse. If you are interested in photos, let me know. I would be glad to share. Also, if you can find my William in Pennsylvania, please let me know. I will return the favor.

I would love to know which branch of the Ferree family I descended from. While on vacation, my aunt brought back photographs of the gravestones of William Ferree, William Ferree, Samuel Ferree, John Wesley Ferree, Jacob and Calista and Anna Ferree, and Willard and Ila Ferree. My grandparents, Estella Davis Ferree and Theodore William Ferree are buried here in Merced, California, and I also have photos of their headstones. I am absolutely fascinated with the Ferree family. I understand there is a book out there on the Ferree family. Do you know if it is still possible to get a copy of that book? I would very much like to read it.

Again, thank you for contacting me. I have put you in my file and I will keep in touch as I find any information that may help.

Andrea
