Some researchers have 'put' Susannah Shearin as William's wife, but I have never seen proof. They may be ASSUMING that the Susannah Shearin who was listed in her father John Shearin's 1794 Will as 'Susannah Durham' was Wm Jr.'s wife---but she could have been another Durham's wife just as easily. Also, the 1800 Warren Co NC census shows William Durham (a male over 45)listed with 6 younger males, 5 females under 26 and one female 26-45--who looks like a wife to me! I THINK this must be Wm Durham Jr. who sold his land in Warren in 1806 and was in Sumner Co by 1809 buying land there. Also in the 1800 census is a young married John Durham and a young married Samuel Durham [Wm's sons probably]in their own households, AND as HEAD of another household is SUSANNA DURHAM(female over 45) with a male 16-26, a female 16-26 and a female 26-45! COULD this be Susanna Shearin Durham dau of John and widow of her Durham husband???? Proof needed and very welcome.
