DUNN, WILLIAM SHELL SR., "W.J.," 84, of Louisville, passed away on Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at the Masonic Homes of Kentucky with his family by his side. He was a retired supervisor for L.G. & E. with over 40 years of service, a U.S. Army World War II veteran, a member of Beuchel Lodge # 896 F & AM and a 33rd degree member of the Scottish Rite Consistory. He absolutely loved trains and anything about the Civil War. Mr. Dunn was a very kind, patient, gentle man whom people loved and respected. He was known to those who cared for him at the Masonic Home as a "Great Man", and he was a Baptist by faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr., and Elizabeth Philpot Dunn and a son, Christopher Michael Dunn. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Winifred Cowley Dunn; daughters, Marsha Rogers (Stephen) and Marilyn Turner (Don); grandchildren, Damien Aston, Winifred Mallory Turner and Kristine Trengali; sister, Mary Francis Hoagland.
His funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, at the Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with interment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hospice & Palliative Care of Louisville or to the Masonic Homes of Kentucky.
