He settled along the Cacaphon River, Hampshire Co., VA. prior to 1761, when he received a Fairfax grant of 320 and 92 acres. He sold lands in 1777, 1782, 1783, 1790, 1794 and 1795. William Demoss, b. abt. 1720 (probably son of Louis Dumas, Will of 1743) m. a Winchel and settled in Clark County, Indiana; removed from there to Jackson County, Indiana. They had 7 daughters, among them Sarah.
Sarah Demoss, sister of James Demoss, b. abt. 1762, m. in Virginia abt. 1779 Abraham Huff jr., b. Ohio, 1790; removed to Jackson County, Indiana. Married 3 times. page 46
