There are two discharge documents available for William Debord, copies of which are in the possession of Jerry D. Abshier. Dates are difficult to read, but one dishcarges him as a sergeant and promotes him to a 2nd Lt. in May of 1863, while another discharges him as a sergeant on 15 September 1864 after three years of service. The date of entry into service is nearly the same on both documents; 19 August 1861 on one, and 2 August 1861 on the other.
