Bedford Co., VA Deeds: Stith to Crawford. 27th Day of March 1770 between Richard Stith for Behalf of the Exrs. of Richard Randolph Gent. of Henrico County Deceased of the one part and James Crawford and Samuel Crawford sons of Wlliam Crawford Dec'd. of the other part. Witnesseth the said Richard Stith for and in consideration of the full sum of __ pounds seven shilling and six pence current money of Virginia in hand paid the receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and deliver and conform unto them the said James Crawford and Samuel Crawford their heirs and assigns forever one certain tract or part of land containing two hundred and twelve acres by the same or less on both sides of Hays fork of Goose Creek at the head of situate in Bedford County and Bonded.... being part of a patent granted four thousand acres being part of the land conveyed by ___ of Richard Randolph Gent. Dec'd to the said Richard by a power of attorney dated November the seventh one thousand seven hundred and sixty one and Recorded in the ___ and also in Bedford Court.... in witness whereof the said Richard Stith hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written. Memorandum that on the day and year first within written livery of seisen of the within granted land and premises was by the within named Richard Stith made Done and Executed unto the within named James Crawford and Samuel Crawford according to the Tenor of the within written Dec'd. At a Court held for Bedford County March 27th 1770. This Indenture and memorandum of Livery of seisen hereon Endorsed were acknowledged by Richard Stith party thereto and Ordered to be Recorded. Att. Ben Howard C.B.C. Truly Recorded. [Signed] Ben Howard.
