- ↑ Sometime between 1876 and 1880 ** William left Newport NH, and moved with his wife and 7 of their children to Canton, Mass. Reason for the relocation is not known. Between late 1879 and mid 1880, Bridget contracted Typhoid disease, and died . By June 1880, his oldest daughter, Ellen seems to have run the house for the family. 4 remaining children = James, Mary A, Lizzie/betty, and Timothy remained in Newport, living in the same boarding house, working in the mill.
**The two youngest children, William and Annie 5 and 4 years old respectively are shown as having New Hampshire as birthplace, suggesting that they relocated some time 1877 - 1880.
