William CORNEY was b. 1816 and chr 1818 at Bethnal Green, son of Robert and Mary (IGI). Will: Thomas Elliot Richardson (d. 29apr1869, gentleman of Portland), executors were his “friends” Alexander Anderson of Bangal, William Corney of Portland (prov.vic site). William’s brothers Robert and Arthur married into the Anderson family; Arthur’s mother in law was an Anderson. William Corney d. jan1898, aged 83, at Portland; he arrived at Tasmania in 1821 and landed at Portland in 1840 (Launceston Examiner). William married Stephan Rowan Robertson (rootsweb). William of Portland d. 27jan1898; beneficiaries of his will were wife Stephen Rowan and son Robert William, grazier of Tulse Hill nr Coleraine (prov.vic site).
