- 25 October 1650 - William Copeland Immigrated to Lancaster County, Virginia. He and is wife Mary were among the 65 persons transported by Sir Thomas Lundsford who received a patent for 3,423 acres on the south bank of the Rappahannock River in Lancaster County, Virginia on 24 October 1650. [Source: Lancaster County, Virginia Court Orders, 1652-1655, pg. 196].
- 1655 - William Copeland bought 537 acres of land "on south side of the Rappahannock River and on north side of Sunderland Creek, bordering land of Richard Lewis" form Daniel and Elizabeth Welch.
- 9 March 1663 - William Copeland was appointed Constable of Lancaster County in the portion south of the Rappahannock River, which became Middlesex County, in 1673.
- 8 February 1664 - Certificate to William Copeland for Transportation of Thomas Mann, William Dyer and Sarah Johnson.
- 8 March 1665 - Mr. Jno. Curtis, 250 acres, Lancaster County, on South side of Rappahannock River beginning at land of Mr. Henry Corbin and against the land of William Copeland, running west to land of Robert Price, thence west for the transfer of 5 persons.
