At his residence in Cuba, N. Y., Oct. 8th, 1875, with bowel difficulty, Mr. Wm. N. Coon, aged 43 years, son-in-law of S. P. and Mary Ann Witter. His remains were brought to Nile, by request, and laid beside his wife, who had passed away nearly five years before. For many months he had been slowly wasting away by disease, seemingly unconscious of his great danger, till confined to his bed, and past medical help. He was then sensible he could never recover. His last words to his friends were those of comfort, expressing no fears of death. His quiet, cheerful life drew around him many warm friends. In his death, Cuba has lost an esteemed citizen, the family with which he was so intimately connected, a faithful son and affectionate brother.
