Initial Pension Application filed 1901, continued 1902-1903. Initial Application at page 2 states that he was born in Talbot County, Georgia, and had resided in the state of Georgia since 1837. The Applications indicate that he enlisted at Talboton about March 1, 1862, as a private in Co K, 27th Regiment, Colquits Brigade; that he was wounded in the Battle of Chancelorsville (April 30 - May 6, 1863), losing his right eye and suffering a broken collarbone and two broken ribs; and that he remained in the hospital at Columbus, Georgia, until the surrender of his unit in May, 1865.
