William Coble, 75, former sheriff of Wabash county, died Sunday evening in a hospital in Logansport, where he had been admitted Friday. He had, however, been ill in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Vaughn Wilson, 743 West Center street, for the past four years.
Mr. Coble, a native of Wabash county, was born April 5, 1869 to David and Hester Coble. At one time he lived near Lincolnville and in addition to being sheriff, he was a farmer, stone cutter and mason. He was sheriff of the county from 1914-1918.
He was married in 1892 to Emma Crumrine who preceded him in death.
Surviving are the daughter, one brother, Harvey Coble, Flint, Mich., two sisters, Mrs. Howard Raber, South Bend, and Mrs. John Miller, Wabash.
Mr. Coble was a member of the Sacred Heart church, Warsaw, where services were held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. Wilfred Mannion officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.
The body has been taken to the Landis Funeral Home where friends may call after 2 o'clock Tuessday afternoon.
