    William Wallace, b. at Derry N.H. Oct 1, 1830, m. Nov 5, 1856, Anna Augusta, dau. of Dea. Philo and Ann (Thompson) Carpenter of Chicago, Ill. b. at Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Oct. 1 1838. Mr. Carpenter resided at Chicago when it was only known as Fort Dearborn; rode horseback to Washington, D.D. and obtained a grant of 160 acres in what is now the heart of Chicago. Organized the first Sunday School in that section. Mr. Cheney resided in Aurora, Ill.; Removed to Chicago where he now resides.
