William2 Caswell (Thomas1), born in Taunton in the Colony of New Plymouth 15 September 1660 (Taunton VR, 1:85); living in Taunton 14 March 1727/8 when he deeded land to his son, Elkanah (Bristol County Deeds, 36:433), but was definitely deceased by the second Tuesday of June 1747 when Shadrach Wilbore appeared at the Bristol County Court of Common Pleas to swear that he was present on 22 April 1696 and did see William Caswell, since deceased, sign a deed of land to John Macomber Junr. of Taunton (ibid., 37:114). … William Caswell was a farmer in Taunton. By the terms of his father's will, he received the 'land whereon his hous now Standeth'; the land called 'the Neck'; ten acres of land at the Thin Swamp: and three acres of swamp at the old beaver dam (Bristol County Probate, 1:196-197)."
