William Bush was in the west of England by the late fifteenth century. He may have even been born there. In any case he was leasing a farm and fulling mill at Dilton near Westbury by 1490. His lease of a fulling mill confirms his connection with the cloth industry, a connection that may well have been established many generations earlier.
