William was married in Virginia and migrated to Garrard County, Kentucky about 1805/1806. From there he moved to Warren Township, Putnam County, Indiana in about 1827
In 1970 William Brown and wife, Elizabeth, were removed from a small burial site on his farm property located in the W1/2 of the NE1/4 of Section 6 T13N R4W in Warren Township, Putnam County, Indiana. They were reburied in the Putnamville Cemetery, Putnamville. On the certificate allowing for the reburial, it stated that he died in 1829 at age 86
William Brown is memorialized on a bronze plaque in the Greencastle, IN courthouse
