- 20 Mar 1804, Washington County, VA Deeds, Book 3, pg. 165: Indenture between William Briton of Washington County and Jonathan Briton and Elizabeth his wife. for "one half of said tract of land". [Deed attached].
- 20 Aug 1805, Washington County, VA Deeds, Book 3, pg. 387: Indenture between William Britain of the County of Washington in the Commonwealth of Virginia and Elizabeth his wife of the one part and their Father Jonathan Britain of the same place of the other part. Witnesseth that the said William Britan and Elizabeth his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds to them well and truly in hand paid by the said Jonathan Britan at and before the ensealing and delivery hereof the receipt is hereby acknowledged. ...containing 144 acres of land.... At a Court held for Washington County the 20th day of August 1805. This Indenture of bargain and sale was acknowledged in Court by the above named William Britain and ordered to be recorded. At a Court held for the said County the 16th Feb. 1808. The above Indenture was acknowledged by Elizabeth Brittian who having been first privily examined as the law directs. Attest. D. Campbell D.C.
