- ↑ William received BS and MS degrees from Drake University where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Kappa Delta Pi. He received an honorary degree of doctor of laws from Mammouth College in 1924.
- ↑ William was an educator his entire adult life. He served schools in Des Moines, Iowa, Hason City, Iowa, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, before being chosen president of the College in Pittsburg, 1913. This is the position he held at the time of his death.
