Willison, 1945 p.45-46 Gov. William Bradford's father was a prosperous yeoman who tilled many acres, died shortly after William was born in 1589. Alice Hanson was daughter of a local shopkeeper and farmer; remarried when William was just 4, sending him to his grandfather, another William Bradford I. Grandfather and mother died 1596 and the boy was taken in by paternal uncles. References
