William R. Block, 78, of Fort Wayne and was called home to the Lord on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at his home with his loving family at his side.
He was the son of the late Lawrence P. and Bernice (Brandon) Block. He was born in Auburn, IN, November 22, 1928. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1947. He retired from Rogers Markets after 40 years as a meat department manager. He also had 18 years of fun at the Five Points Bait Shop.
He was a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. He is survived by the light of his life for 58 years, Betty Jane (Crumrine), daughter, Deborah (James) Andrews of Fort Wayne; sons, Lawrence L. (Barbara) Block, Kenneth Block and Giovanna Kays both of Grabill, IN. His six wonderful grandchildren, Tim (Kathleen) Andrews, Scott Andrews, Jaimie (Joel) Ormiston, Billy Block, Nikki Block and Jason Block; and six beautiful great-grandchildren, Zach Ormiston, Ryan Andrews, Tyler Andrews, Erin Andrews, Connor Ormiston and Reagan Ormiston; sisters, Virginia Reader and Ruth Block of Montello, WI and many, many family and friends. He was preceded in death by sister, Barbara Caccamo. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be missed tremendously by all. Into God's hands, he is received to rest in peace for all eternity. He spent endless hours at the ball park watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play ball. His hobbies included bowling, golfing, fishing and dancing with the love of his life, Betty.
Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 1500 W. State Blvd. with calling one-half hour prior, Fr. Gary Sigler officiating. Calling is also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at D.O. McComb & Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue with Rosary at 4:30 p.m. Friday. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens.
