An Ancestry Public Tree suggests that he adopted Sadie Allison, without providing any evidence (other than that she used the surname Black as a single woman in the 1920 census and when she married in 1921, and that a "Miss Black" was present when William Black was shot in 1915). If so, he must have adopted her between 1910 (when she was 12) and 1915 (when she was 17).
