William Bickers (III) VA-GA Born in Orange County, Virginia, about 1784; married Nancy Evans Ivy on 02 Jan 1834, as recorded in Greene County, Georgia, at the age of 50; marrying late in life. William Bickers died in 1851; administrator appointed in Greene County, Georgia, July 7, 1851; Age about 67. His wife, Nancy, was the widow of John Ivy. Nancy Ivy had a daughter, Parmelia F. Ivy. Parmelia F. Ivy married a man by the name of Jackson. Nancy Ivy Bickers refers in her Will to her grandson, Alexander J.S. Jackson. Nancy Bickers died in 1877. The children of William (III) & Nancy Bickers were: Mary Elizabeth Bickers (IV) John Thomas Bickers (IV) Martha Ann Eliza Bickers (IV) William Cornelius Bickers (IV) Benjamin Franklin Bickers (IV) Sarah Hester Bickers (IV) Nancy Evans Ivy Bickers died in 1877, age about 68, and her Will as given below in abstract was proven in Greene County, Georgia, January 14, 1878: "The Will of Nancy Bickers, Will Book 187 2-1922, p35, of Greene County, Georgia: Devises: To daughters, Mary Elizabeth Winslett, Martha Ann Eliza Rhodes, and Sarah Hester Johnson, my three beds and bed clothes. To my three sons John Thomas Bickers, William Cornelius Bickers, and Benjamin Franklin Bickers, (who are to be my executors) my three mules. To my grandson, Alexander J.S. Jackson, the sum of $20.00; his mother while in life having received from the estate of her father and my first husband a great deal more property than I am now able to give to any of my children. It is my wish that my lands, stock, cattle, horses, plantation property and household and kitchen property, and all my promissory notes be equally divided between my six children. Three sons to serve as executors. Signed March 29, 1873. Philip B. Robinson, E.C. Kennebrew, C.A. Davis, Jr., and D. Sanford, witnesses. Proven January 14, 1878." The census was taken October 18, 1850 and lists William, age 59 and Nancy, age 52. William was born in Virginia and Nancy and the children were born in Georgia. The birth years for Nancy and the children reflect the 1850 census but I used the above information for Williams year of birth. JHM 2/23/2006.
