WILLIAM M. BASTIN By far, this was the most interesting file of the three. Unfortunately, there was no physical description of him in the file. He was wounded twice during the war and was taken POW once. He sustained a slight wound to his right wrist on December 31, 1862 at Murfreesboro or Stone River, Tennessee. His name is listed on the Casualty Sheet of Wounded. Although the injury was listed as "slight", he was captured and taken Prisoner of War, confined at Richmond, VA. He was paroled at City Point on January 26, 1863 and reported at Camp Parole, Md on January 27, 1863 and was reassigned.

The second time he was injured was during the Atlanta Campaign. (Our relatives didn't fair well in Atlanta, but they did survive it.) In July 1864 he sustained a "flesh wound of leg". His name as listed on the Casualty Sheet of Wounded was Wm. M. Bascomb/Bastian. There was a note in the file that there was no other man in the unit that the Bascomb could have referred to and that Wm. M Bascomb was "Accepted as referring to William M Bastian".
