"17 William4 (Bartholomew) (Andrew,3 William,2 William,1) born in Branford 2 Feb., 1699; … and died 7 Sept., 1734. William Bartholomew lived in Northford, Ct., and was a farmer. He purchased land in Wallingford in 1734 as William Bartholomew, jr., of Branford. His estate was admitted to probate 6 Mar., 1734-5; heirs, widow Hannah and children Gorsham, Abigail, Seth, Levi and Susannah, his father being made guardian for his children Gorsham and Susannah. On the 21 Jan., 1788, Jonathan Bartholomew, as next of kin, applied for administration on the dower of the widow, which was divided, two shares to the heirs of Gorsham and one each to Abigail Hotchkiss, Seth Bartholomew, Susannah Harrison, and heirs of Levi Bartholomew (the latter had been sold by Levi to his step-father the 31 Mar., 1755)."
